About Us
My name is Emmi and I’m a mother of two boys. Most of my adult life has been a struggle with my weight. Before my children were born I had always been skinny. In my early twenties my first child was born, that's when all my struggles began.
I couldn’t seem to lose the weight I had gained during my pregnancy, and to top it off I just kept slowly gaining more.
I was overweight for 6 years after he was born.
One day I was finally fed up with being fat and feeling bad about myself.
I decided I was going to lose the weight.
I drastically cut back on what I was eating. I stopped eating after 6 pm at night and I started to exercise every single day. I finally managed to lose the weight. Within 6 months I was pregnant again. It took me another 3 years to lose the weight this time.
It was even harder than it had been the first time to lose the weight.
Eventually I was able to get down to 120 lbs which was still heavier than I had previously been but I was happy I had managed to lose most of the weight.
I started going to the gym 4 days a week in the hopes I could lose the last five pounds but instead I gradually started to gain the weight back. I was still eating the same and going to the gym, I knew I wasn’t pregnant. I just couldn’t understand why I was gaining weight again.
So, I went to the doctor and that’s when I was diagnosed with having hypothyroidism and eventually pre-diabetes.
That was about 7 years ago. Since then nothing I had done helped me to stop gaining weight or to lose what I had gained. I was prescribed a weight loss pill (phentermine) by my doctor. I tried weight watchers, I tried one of those meal replacement shakes, I even tried one of those meal services that send you prepackaged food.
I mean if you can name it I’ve probably tried it.
One night I was sitting at my computer scrolling for the next thing to try while feeling horrible about myself.
I came across a page talking about the Keto Diet. So, I decided to do some research on it and give it a try.
It sounded like it might be difficult since I really loved my carbs, but I figured what could it hurt.
I’d already spent plenty of years trying other stuff. So, I went all out, read whatever I good find online and cut out all carbs. It was a very difficult first couple of weeks. But let me tell you, I am so glad I did.
After starting Keto I had some difficulty drinking coffee and this was a big problem for me. I mean I lived on coffee before keto, but my coffee creamer was not Keto friendly.
I read about bulletproof coffee and how everyone loved it so, I tried it.
I couldn’t drink it, I found it absolutely gross.
I spent the next 4 months trying as many keto friendly coffee creamers I could find, all the while I continued to drink my non-keto creamer. In the end, I wasted my time and money trying to find a replacement for my coffee creamer.
I finally gave up creamer all together and just started to drink my coffee black.
I didn’t give up my dream of finding a keto friendly coffee creamer that I would like. This is when my husband and I decided since I couldn’t find a creamer, we would make one. Now I can have my coffee and stay on the keto diet with no problems.
Since starting Keto I have finally been able to lose weight and feel better, best of all I am no longer pre-diabetic.
Starting the Ketogenic diet was the best thing I could have done for my health and weight loss goals.
